A beach of pilgrimage.Utah Beach, June 6th, 1944. The centre of the assault is set for W5, the big dune. At midnight, the 101 and 82 Airborne division parachute land on Utah beach.Next come the reinforcements with 102 gliders, and six hours later the 4th Infantry Division begin to land on Utah Beach.Five months after the landings, the German soldiers were defeated by U.S. troops at a cost of many battles and losses. A million men landed on the beach in Normandy.Many monuments and the Omaha Beach Museum recount these events in the history of World War II at Utah Beach, now a much visited pilgrimage site.
